Catholic Spirituality

The Catholic tradition is one of the most special and distinctive characteristics of Notre Dame. One of the most meaningful events a club can offer is the opportunity for alumni to worship together through an event such as a communion breakfast, family Mass, Alumni Urban Plunge assisting the needy, or alumni retreat.

The Notre Dame Club of Phoenix offers annual events such as:

Christmas Mass and Breakfast

In early December a Christmas Mass and breakfast is annually held for all Notre Dame, St. Marys College, and Holy Cross College alumni, family, relatives, and friends. Everyone is encouraged to bring a Christmas gift that the club then donates to the less fortunate families.  Father Jim Ferguson C.S.C. celebrates our Mass for the club as our new chaplain. Father Robert Kramer C.S.C. had been our club chaplain for many years. Father Kramer recently passed away at Notre Dame.

Freshman Send-Off

In July a Mass and reception is held annually to bid success to all incoming freshman and transfer students to Notre Dame, St. Mary's College, and Holy Cross College.  All club members, family, and friends are invited to attend.

Online Resources

In addition, the University provides several online resources to help enhance your spiritual life.  Sponsored by the Alumni Association, pray.nd.edu features inspirational videos, daily prayers and Gospel readings, as well as Prayer requests for the Grotto.   NDPrayercast.org, offered by the Office of Campus Ministry, offers videos of Masses at the Basilica, recorded homilies and prayers, all downloadable as podcasts.

Hands & Hope for Haiti
This fall, ND alumni and current students will join together to collect 25,000 pounds of clothing for the people of Haiti. The Hands & Hope for Haiti clothing drive will take place on campus from Oct. 4 until the ND-Pittsburgh football game (Nov. 1).

There will be a friendly competition between alumni and current students to see which group can collect the most clothing. The type of clothing that is needed is good quality spring and summer clothing, as well as very gently used footwear. (Please note: winter clothing, as well as clothing in extra large sizes, will not be usable to the people of Haiti, therefore we ask that these be excluded from your contributions.)

Please help the people of Haiti by bringing clothing to the game watches in order to be donated. We hope to join together with other alumni in order to collect more clothing than the students, but more importantly, we would like to be able to provide support and resources to those in need. Thanks for your help!
